Epiim cheese factory in Estonia currently pre-treats its wastewater through a flotation process before discharge, but the process is not functioning optimally due to inefficient regulation of the process. Thus, in the BEST project Epiim is investing in a regulation tank in order to equalize the water flow to suite the capacity of the flotation process and to function optimally. The regulation tank will reduce hydraulic peaks to the pre-treatment facility, balance the industrial wastewater content and quality and increase the precision of chemical dosing. The collected flocs will be utilized for biogas production.
