Project BEST was launched in the Helsinki Kick-off meeting in 6 -8 February arranged by the lead partner City of Helsinki jointly with Helsinki Region Environmental Service Authority HSY. The event concentrated on cooperation practices between industry, municipality and water utilities, and the current legislative and decision making related challenges. In the workshop, the best practices currently applied in the Baltic Sea Region were presented by the case-examples. Furthermore, the participants were introduced with the new working methods for developing local co-operation and communications. The Kick off gathered altogether 53 participants from Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Germany and Finland representing partner and associated partner organizations. This Kick off meeting was an important opportunity for partners to meet each other face to face for the first time. Furthermore, the Kick off meeting enabled to start our work towards the common project goal for better industrial waste water treatment in the Baltic Sea Region.
