Riga Technical University RTU arranged “Smart Biotechnology” workshop for representatives of water industry. In the workshop, experts from RTU Water Research Laboratories and RTU Water Engineering and Technology Department discussed about the newest biotechnologies used for wastewater treatment and presented the experimental results of the biological filter system developed within the project CB50 “Pilot watersheds as a practical tool to reduce the harmful inflows into the Baltic Sea – WATERCHAIN CB50” (http://waterchain.samk.fi/). Speakers of the workshop presented their studies and talked about active pilot experiments implemented in the framework of projects such as BEST (https://bestbalticproject.eu), POMACEA (http://pomacea.com/), Hi-Water and B-LIQ (https://www.facebook.com/bliqproject/).
Scientists and academicians of Riga Technical University also had opportunity to discuss together with representatives of the Latvian Water Industry and guests from European centre of excellence for sustainable water technology WETSUS about future cooperation opportunities.
